Vulcan Dog Enters Pon Farr
VULCAN, U.F.P. - Vulcan dog Pi' kelek entered Pon Farr, the reproductive period of arousal, marked by blood fever and increased aggression, her owner, Gol resident Serok confirmed.
“It is most unfortunate that dogs’ lifespans are such that they experience Pon Farr once every year, as opposed to once every seven years as is the biological timetable for Vulcans that are not dogs,” Serok commented. He added, “It is a most uncomfortable ordeal.”
Similar to adult Vulcans, dogs’ Pon Farr period must end in successful mating, victory in combat, or death. An excited and visibly agitated Pi’ kelek stated that she would be up for all three. She then started running around Mr. Serok’s apartment at full speed before sliding into a door.
When asked which option he preferred, Serok explained, “I am unsure of which outcome will prevail. I plan to take Pi’ kelek to the dog park and observe what happens. If she is to perish, it is because another dog was able to mate or succeed in ritual combat. I would feel nothing.”
Regardless, Serok will be providing Pi’ kelek with a miniature Lirpa purchased at a specialty dog store.
At press time, Pi’ kelek had mated with a genetically gifted male dog named Pi’ sa-kan. They are not expecting puppies, as both have been spayed and neutered for the greater good of Vulcan society.
[writers note: I really think a fun photoshop is going to sell this one. Vulcan dog wearing underpants. I’m trying to think of what’s the most Vulcan-looking dog, but the ears could also be photoshopped to be pointy along with slanted eyebrows]
