SYNECDOCHE, NY - Melissa and her Yorkshire Terrier, Jack, have embarked on a new and scary chapter of their relationship as Melissa recently started her freshman year of college, sources confirm.

“I really don’t think this is going to work out,” Jake explained. “Melissa used to tell me to sit, fetch, and even speak, but ever since she left, we don’t have any communication at all. She’s tried to command me over the phone and through video chat, but it’s just not the same. I need someone to be right here with me.”

Melissa is staying hopeful that the distance between her and her beloved pup won’t mean the end of their long-term relationship.

“It’s going to be rough, but I totally think Jack and I can make it through this. I don’t understand why he is being so cynical,” Melissa stated. “Jack once went to a doggy training school for an entire week and I never thought that was the end!”

Jack remains skeptical about Melissa pursuing her academic career.

“I’ve already been on the lookout for a new companion,” said Jack. “There’s an 8-year-old boy that lives across the street and I heard he has no plans of going to college.”
