Brooklyn, NY - Tension reached an all-time high over the weekend when Woofgang Pug, a 4-year-old Pug, returned from his walk to find his usual gourmet biscuits had been replaced with an inferior store-brand option.

“I tried to eat it but it didn't have any flavor at all,” explained Woofgang.  “I immediately knew something was off. These were not my tasty peanut-butter dog donuts with carob icing from The Barkery Bakery.  These treats, if you can even call them that, were something out of a box that you’d find at Costco, or worse. My entire good boy treat experience was ruined.”

Owner Charlotte Martin stated the reason for the switch was purely financial.

“It seemed like a great value at the time,” Martin explained. “The gourmet treats are like $10 and you only get 3, meanwhile the store-brand are only $3 for an entire box! Who woulda thought he'd even realize?!”

Woofgang attempted to spare Martin’s feelings, though proved a more difficult feat than he expected.

“I don’t want Charlotte to think I’m not appreciative,” Woofgang commented. “I really tried to stomach the new treats but they’re just so bland.  I’ve started to hide them, usually in my bed, but they’re really starting to accumulate.”

Upon discovering the cache of treats in Woofgang’s bed, Martin has opted to revert back to the gourmet treats.

“Now that I’m aware of his preference, I’ll be sure to only buy his gourmet treats from The Barkery. He’s such a good boy and his happiness is worth the extra money, and also I found a bunch of coupons for them anyway.”
