Dog Barks at Treat for Hours Before Finally Eating It
UNION, NJ - Neighborhood dog Beekers, a 4-year-old Labrador Retriever, ecstatic upon being given a treat, was compelled to bark at said treat for several hours before deciding to eat it, sources confirm.
“I typically get a good-boy treat after my business-time walks,” explained Beekers. “I’m so thankful for my treats and want to show Kristi that I really love and appreciate them, so I like to take my time with each one, barking at them, sometimes for hours before eating them.”
Beekers proceeded to explain his treat consumption process.
“Something about those little treats just turns me into some kind of animal,” he continued. “ I enjoy tossing it in the air, hiding it in my bed, then pretending I’m stalking it down before finally pouncing upon my prey. Sometimes I pretend the bone is holding my other toys hostage and I play the roles of both good cop and bad cop, barking demands that it surrender to me before things get ugly.”
Kristi Lin, Beekers’ owner, expressed mostly confusion at the behavior.
“I’m not sure what he’s thinking, but these treats really get him going,” she commented. “At first I thought he wasn’t a fan of them because he would just bark at them for a while before finally eating it, but now I think he’s just having some fun with the treats.”
Things got even more heated when Kristi accidentally put out two treats at once, and Beekers could not decide which to bark at, proceeding to just run in circles around the room for an entire afternoon.
